The New From "I Will" to "I Do" -- a Vlog
I'm back! But instead of blogging daily I'll be vlogging weekly -- meaning, I've started a From "I Will" to "I Do" video series over on Google+ that you can watch live, or you can catch a re-run any time here, on G+, on YouTube, or a partner site. Here's how it looked over at Style Me Pretty.
Every week you'll get to listen in on a conversation between me and the biggest names in bridal! Last month we covered bridal fashion week trends with Martha Stewart Weddings' Editorial Director Darcy Miller, Mark Ingram, Style Me Pretty's Stephanie Weers, London-based planner Mark Niemierko, The Knot's Fashion Director Jennia Ma, Terry Hall of Kleinfeld, EquallyWed's Kirsten Palladino and Harmony Walton of Bridal Bar and the Jet Fete blog. Amazing, right?! Watch them both below.
In the coming weeks you'll hear from the biggest names in bridal including planners, caterers, bakers, bloggers, florists, designers, editors, photographers, and pretty much anyone else you can think of -- just shoot me an email, tweet, or G+ comment and let me know what you'd like to hear/learn about and who you'd love to hear from!
I'm SUPER excited to resurrect From "I Will" to "I Do" and I think this will be a great way to continue the legacy of this blog, which, since July 4, 2006, has featured planning and style advice in a friendly, totally approachable, tone.
I'll post weekly program updates and shows here but follow me on Google+ to get daily tips, style inspiration and pretty much any and everything weddings -- including the latest on Prince Harry!

Wedding Gown Guidance from Mark Ingram
For the past ten years Mark Ingram has been dressing brides in fabulous gown at his Atelier on the East Side of Manhattan. In honor of the Atelier's 10th anniversary I thought I'd recycle an old post from 2006 with his wedding gown shopping tips, because this advice never goes out of style:
1. It is important to have an actual wedding date and venue. Your sales consultant will help you select a gown that is perfect for your setting.
2. Bring tear sheets, photos and downloaded web images of styles of gowns you wish to try on. Our consultants will make additional style recommendations based on your initial conversation.
3. Before scheduling an appointment, make sure the salons you have selected feature gowns in your price range.
4. In general, limit your shopping companions to the one or two persons whose opinions mean the most.
The Mark Ingram Atelier is located at 110 East 55th Street, 8th Floor. They only work by appointment, so call them at 212-319-6778 to schedule one soon.

If You Can Make It Here

If you live or are planning on getting married in the New York Metro area, then I highly recommend picking up a copy of New York magazine's Wedding Issue.
In addition to great ideas, the resource directory in the back is filled with the best vendors in the area, and in every category - bridal salons, florists, photographers, stationers, calligraphers - you name it, they've got it.
Next Wednesday, March 28th, from 5 to 9pm, the magazine is hosting a bridal event, the New York magazine Wedding Showcase, at the Metropolitan Pavilion on 18th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues. Tickets are $35 per person, or $50 for two, and can be purchased in advance, by clicking here. Or you can pay $45 at the door. All ticket holders will receive a goody bag filled with fun items.
The vendors at the event include some of New York's best: Ron Ben-Israel (Ron made my cake), Kathi Littwin (a favorite photographer of mine), Michelle Rago (an amazing florist and she has a beautiful new book out) and Mark Ingram (the most fabulous person in the industry).
I plan on stopping by to see what's hot for New York City weddings this year, and I suggest you take a look too.
Hope to see you there.
