A Bit of Music Advice

Everyone has their favorite artist or type of music, but there are some songs you can dance to and some that you can't.

When choosing music for your reception, select a band that can play everything from the standards to Motown to disco to today's Top 40 hits. And if you're hiring a DJ find out how far their music library goes back so you can get a good mix of the past six decades.

Remember that just because you love a local Van Halen cover band (and they come in under budget) doesn't mean your guests will love four hours of them.

While you don't want to subject your guests to 3 hours of a Van Halen cover band, there's no reason you can't hire more than one kind of entertainment for your reception. Say, a traditional DJ for the cocktail hour and early part of the reception, and your Van Halen cover band for the last hour after the older folks have gone home? Another idea would be to have a slightly shorter reception and an "after party" at a separate location for just the music you like. Oh, and if you're looking for that Van Halen cover band, we do have them on GigMasters!

I got stuck with that duty @a freinds wedding extremely irritating. If possible maybe cut back something else to afford a dj music is what gets the guests move in & exited through the reception
